Football Team Travels to Hanover on Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opens the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference football season on the road, traveling to Hanover College on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Rose-Hulman stands 1-1 after defeating Millikin 26-14 and falling 14-13 to Illinois College in its non-conference games.  The Fightin' Engineers were 8-2 last season and tied for second in the HCAC standings in 2015.

Junior Kevin Dufauchard has ignited the offensive attack with two 100-yard rushing games so far this fall.  Dufauchard rushed for 118 yards against Illinois College and gained 142 yards on 42 carries at Millikin.  

Senior quarterback Austin Swenson holds 19 school records and stands 535-816 through the air for 6,274 yards and 59 career touchdown passes.  Senior Alec Fisher holds the career school record with 27 touchdown receptions.  His totals include 160 receptions (#4 in school history) for 1,981 receiving yards (#6 at RHIT).

The Engineer defense leads the HCAC by allowing just 14.0 points per game. Safety John Kirby leads the defense with 19 tackles and has one interception.  Kaelen Garner has 13 tackles, and Kyle Brewer has 12 tackles with two fumble recoveries so far in 2016.

Junior Matt Murray is the reigning HCAC Player of the Week after averaging 48.0 yards per punt with three kicks inside the 20-yard line at Millikin.  Murray leads the HCAC with an average of 48.3 yards per kick on 10 punts.

Hanover stands 0-2 on the season with losses to Centre (35-13) and Maryville (Tenn.) (38-0).  New head coach Matt Theobald returns to his alma mater after serving as the offensive coordinator at Franklin College.

Adam Gutermuth has led the Hanover offense by completing 38-76 passes for 258 yards so far this season.  Justin Connors leads the ground attack with 116 rushing yards and two touchdown, and Ryan Martin heads the Hanover defensive effort with 20 tackles and one sack.

After this week's action, Rose-Hulman returns to the road for the third consecutive week with a road game at Defiance College.
