GAME NOTES

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology looks for its second straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference road win, when the Fightin' Engineers travel to Defiance College on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Rose-Hulman jumped out to a 31-0 lead after three quarters in a win at Hanover last week that improved the team's overall record to 2-1.  The Fightin' Engineers relied on a balanced offense and a defensive effort that included four interceptions and four sacks in the victory.

Individually, junior Kevin Dufauchard has ignited the offensive attack with two 100-yard rushing games so far this fall.  Dufauchard ranks second in the HCAC with 303 rushing yards and has scored three touchdowns.

Senior quarterback Austin Swenson holds 19 school records entering Saturday's game.  Swenson stands 557-851 through the air for 6,421 yards and 61 touchdown passes in his Fightin' Engineer career.  He needs 20 completions to set a new all-time school record in that category.  Senior Alec Fisher holds the career school record with 29 touchdown receptions.  His totals include 166 receptions (#4 in school history) for 2,031 receiving yards (#6 at RHIT).

The Engineer defense leads the HCAC by allowing just 14.0 points per game. Safety John Kirby leads the defense with 25 tackles and has one interception.  Kaelen Garner has added 22 tackles and leads the HCAC with 5.5 sacks.

Junior Matt Murray has solidified the kicking game with a 42.2 yard punting average with six kicks inside the opposing 20-yard line...Murray is also 1-1 on field goals and 4-4 on extra points.

Defiance stands 1-2 overall, highlighted by an 18-6 non-conference win over Hope.  Corey Bennett leads the rushing offense with 175 yards and one touchdown. Logan Scott is 54-116 through the air for 447 yards, and three receivers have over 10 receptions for the Yellow Jackets.

The Defiance defense is ranked No. 1 in the HCAC in fewest yards allowed.  Markell Moncrief has a conference-high four interceptions, and Keandre Gilmer leads the Yellow Jackets with 28 tackles and 3.5 TFLs.

After this week's game, Rose-Hulman returns home to face Anderson University in the annual Homecoming Game on Saturday Oct. 1 at 2 p.m.
