TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team continues their 2023 season with their first home games of the 2023 season. The Fightin' Engineers will host a pair of doubleheaders with a revised schedule of Blackburn on Sunday (1 and 3 pm) and Eureka on Monday (5 and 7 pm). 

ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes into this weekend with a 2-6 record.
* The Fightin' Engineers split with Agnes Scott and Greenville and were swept by LaGrange and Emory.
* Rose-Hulman enters the season with a 15-player roster under the direction of 21st-year head coach Brian Shearer.
* The Fightin' Engineers finished last season at 18-14 with their first winning season since 2015. 
* Rose-Hulman was picked to finish 7th in the HCAC this season, in a preseason poll of league coaches released in February.
* After hosting Eureka and Blackburn, the Fightin' Engineers will open HCAC competition with a home doubleheader with Defiance on Saturday, April 1.

EUREKA NOTES:
* Eureka comes in at just 1-6 on the season following their spring trip to Texas.
* The Red Devils were swept by both St. Thomas (TX) and Southwestern (TX).
* They also split with Austin and lost to UT-Dallas.
* Macey Whisker is leading the team with eight hits and a 0.588 slugging percentage.
* The Red Devils are a heavily freshman-laden team with 96% of their innings pitched this year coming from freshman.
* Tatum Trotter leads the team with three starts, two complete games, and a 6.72 ERA.
* After the Saturday doubleheader, Eureka will travel to fellow HCAC foe Franklin for a doubleheader on Sunday.

BLACKBURN NOTES:
* Blackburn comes into the season with a 5-3 record and wins in four of their last five.
* The Beavers have fallen to DeSales, Wilkes, and Sweet Briar with wins over Martin Luther, Elms, Dean, Norwich, and Immaculata.
* Blackburn has only played one game since March 8th due to weather.
* Madi Fry, a freshman third baseman, leads the team in batting average at 0.474.
* The junior duo of Chelsea Ashlock and McKenzie Smith are both hitting over 0.300 as well.
* Freshman pitcher Michelle Hollon leads the team with a 3-0 record and a 2.00 ERA. 
* The Beavers have been very prone to errors this season with 28 in eight games. The Beavers have allowed 29 unearned runs in their eight games.
* After the Sunday doubleheader, Blackburn will host Maranatha Baptist next Friday for a doubleheader.

SERIES HISTORY:
* The Fightin' Engineers have split the all-time series with Eureka 4-4.
* Rose-Hulman has won four consecutive games in 2021 and 2022.
* The Fightin' Engineers lead the all-time series with Blackburn 13-5.
* Rose-Hulman has won three straight games and six of the last seven against Blackburn.
* This will be the first meeting between the two teams since the 2015 season.
* A win in game one on Sunday will give the Fightin' Engineers their longest ever win streak over the Beavers.
