TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman's Softball Coach, Brian Shearer, has announced he will be stepping down as the Head Coach of the Rose-Hulman softball program.

Shearer has served for 24 seasons as the head coach of the Fightin' Engineers softball team. He has totaled nine winning seasons with records above .500 and four seasons with over 20 wins. He finishes his career at Rose-Hulman with a total of 330 wins and 137 conference victories.

"Over the past 25 years, Coach Shearer has been an important part of the growth and expansion of our athletic facilities, athletic department, and softball program," said Interim Athletic Director Seth Woodason. "I greatly appreciate his many years of dedication to Rose-Hulman."

During his time at Rose-Hulman, Shearer has led the team to three league division or regular season titles. The Fightin' Engineers recorded back-to-back SCAC Eastern Division Championship seasons in 2004 and 2005, which included the team's first regional ranking in school history. The team also earned the HCAC Regular Season title during the 2008 season.

Shearer has mentored many student-athletes during his time at Rose-Hulman, including 41 student-athletes who have earned All-Conference, 10 who have been named All-Region, and one CoSIDA Academic All-American.

Shearer's time in the Rose-Hulman community has made a lasting impact. As he steps away from the dugout, he leaves behind a foundation from which the program can build for years to come.

Rose-Hulman will begin a national search immediately to find the next head coach of the Fightin' Engineers softball program.
