Softball Celebrates Senior Day with Saturday Doubleheader

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team hosts Bluffton on Saturday at 1 PM and 3 PM as the Fightin' Engineers celebrate Senior Day. Prior to the game, Rose-Hulman will honor their four seniors including Lexi Fortuna, MaKenzie Morgan, Ashley Pinkham, and Nicole Lang.

ROSE-HULMAN SENIOR BIOS:
Lexi Fortuna has appeared in 79 games with 77 starts at Rose-Hulman, with career totals of 46 hits, 6 doubles, 22 runs scored and 11 RBIs. This season, Lexi is batting .288 with 2 doubles. After graduation, Lexi will head to work at Cook Medical as a Manufacturing Engineer in New Product Introduction. The biomedical engineering major from Griffith, Indiana, will be joined by her parents Jill and Chris Fortuna.
* Nicole Lang has appeared in 91 career games at Rose-Hulman with 89 starts. Nicole currently ranks No. 4 in Rose-Hulman history in career batting average at .372, No. 2 in slugging average at .669, No. 6 in runs scored with 78, No. 12 in doubles with 26, No. 3 in home runs with 17 and No. 5 in RBIs with 72. This season, Nicole is batting a career-best .420 with a single-season school record tying 7 home runs. After graduation, Nicole will head to Indianapolis to work as a project engineer at Bastian Solutions. The mechanical engineering major will be joined by her parents Jeff and Dawn Lang.
* MaKenzie Morgan has appeared in 83 career games at Rose-Hulman with 82 starts. MaKenzie has career totals of a .281 batting average, 53 runs scored, 30 RBIs, 23 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs and 11 stolen bases. MaKenzie ranks 15th in Rose-Hulman history in doubles and 8th in stolen bases. This season, MaKenzie is batting .260 with 4 doubles and 2 home runs. After graduation, MaKenzie will attend Perfusion School. The biomedical engineering major from Groverton, Indiana will be joined by her parents Sara and Richie Morgan.
* Ashley Pinkham has started 101 career games, with totals of a .277 batting average, 84 hits, 39 runs scored, 44 RBIs, 15 doubles and 1 home run as a hitter. The dual threat is also pitcher with 61 career strikeouts in 114.1 innings pitched. Ashley ranks No. 14 in Rose-Hulman history with the 61 career pitching strikeouts. This season, Ashley is batting .239 with 1 home run and has struck out 37 batters in 58.1 innings pitched. After graduation, Ashley heads to Indianapolis to join Eli Lilly as a process engineer. The chemical engineering major will be joined by her parents Dan and Deanna Pinkham.

ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes into this weekend with a 6-18 record and 0-8 in the HCAC.
* Last Friday, Nicole Lang tied the single-season school record with seven home runs to lead the Fightin' Engineers in a pair of losses to Webster.
* On Saturday, Rose-Hulman fell in both games of the doubleheader with Mount St. Joseph.
* Rose-Hulman enters the season with a 15-player roster under the direction of 21st-year head coach Brian Shearer.
* The Fightin' Engineers finished last season at 18-14 with their first winning season since 2015. 
* Rose-Hulman was picked to finish 7th in the HCAC this season, in a preseason poll of league coaches released in February.
* After hosting Bluffton, the Fightin' Engineers will travel to Franklin for a Wednesday doubleheader.

* Bluffton comes into Saturday's doubleheader at 12-18 and 1-7 in the HCAC.
* The Beavers were .500 at 11-11 in the non-conference before losing seven of their last eight.
* Senior catcher Bobbi Adams leads the team with a .432 average and a .663 slugging percentage. She has 12 extra base hits with five home runs this season.
* Kaylee Grant and Kryshel Dales are each hitting over .300 for the Beavers.
* On the mound, Erin Norman and Grace Fillinger have pitched 93% of the innings for Bluffton with ERAs of 4.11 and 3.53.
* The Beavers have allowed 61 unearned runs on 81 errors in 30 games.
* The Beavers return home on Tuesday for a doubleheader with first-place Mount St. Joseph.

SERIES HISTORY:
* Bluffton leads the all-time series 21-9 over Rose-Hulman.
* The Beavers have won four of the last five against Rose-Hulman with the last win coming in 2021.
