TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Tyler Hammond has been named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, effective immediately.
Hammond is a former collegiate basketball player at Marietta College where he played his senior season for current Rose-Hulman coach
Nick Sales. He was a three-time OAC All-Conference honoree and earned All-Region honors during his sophomore season. Hammond started 91 of the 92 games he played during his career and averaged 10.6 points and 3.2 assists per game. He broke out during his senior season with 6.3 assists per game and a 4.9 assist to turnover ratio while shooting 50% from three.
Hammond takes over the assistant coach position following his time as the Head Girls Basketball Coach and Associate Athletic Director at Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland.
He also spent time as the Youth Basketball Coordinator and Interim Director with the Memphis Grizzlies NBA Team.
He has six years of college coaching experience as he was an Assistant Coach at Marietta for one year after graudating. He also spent five years as an Assistant Coach and Director of Player Development at Siena Heights until 2020.
Hammond earned his Bachelor's degree in Sport Management in 2014 from Marietta College, and he received his Master's degree in Organizational Leadership in 2017 from Siena Heights.
The men's basketball team opens their 2023-24 campaign with a home game against DePauw on Friday, November 10.
