Men's Swim-Dive Claims First-Place Finish at Wooster Invitational

RESULTS

WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's swimming and diving team earned a dominant first-place finish in the Wooster Invitational this week with a team score of 1852.5.

Vineet Ranade led the Fightin' Engineers in the morning session of day one of the meet as he broke his own school record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.69. He continued that success in the finals as he brought home 1st place with a time of 1:50.02. 

Ranade also added a 1st-place finish in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:39.15. He earned another event win in the 200 Breast on the final day of the meet with a time of 2:01.89.

Trevor Wiley also found his way into the record book with the school and HCAC record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:02.74 in the prelims before winning the event with a time of 4:03.09 in the finals. He also finished with the second-fastest 200 IM time in school history at 1:53.54 before bringing home a second-place finish in the event with a time of 1:54.10.

Wiley added another second-place finish on the final day of competition with the fifth-fastest time in Rose-Hulman history in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 1:52.23.

Blaise Swartwood got in on the action claiming an event win on the last day of competition in the 100 IM with a time of 52.73.

Ranade added another top finish in the 400 Medley Relay with Carter Kirtz, Caleb Munger, and Swartwood with a time of 3:25.15. This time was good enough for the 3rd-best time in school history.

Munger, Ranade, and Wiley earned another first-place finish as they teamed up with Tommaso Calviello in the 800 Freestyle Relay to win the event with a time of 6:53.38. 

The team of Ranade, Calviello, Munger, and Swartwood added one more first-place finish in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:06.32.

The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Friday, January 10th as they travel to compete against Valparaiso and Wabash in the Valparaiso Tri-Meet at 5 PM CT.
