TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team hits the road to face Webster University on Saturday, March 23 at 1 PM and 3 PM CT. The team will then travel to Eureka on Sunday, March 24 at 1 PM and 3 PM CT.
ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
» The Fightin' Engineers enter their weekend match ups with the Gorloks and the Red Devils with a record of 8-4 overall this season.
» The team comes off a doubleheader sweep over Fontbonne University with two comeback victories with final scores of 6-5 and 8-5.
»
Jessica Newsom earned the HCAC Hitter of the Week after providing a spark for the Fightin' Engineers with a home run in each game against the Griffins to start both comebacks.Â
» Rose-Hulman started their season with their spring trip to Florida finishing the week with a record of 6-4 overall.
» The Fightin' Engineers earned four wins against Grove City and two wins against Houghton on the trip.
» Rose-Hulman opens their 22nd consecutive season under head coachÂ
Brian Shearer as the Fightin' Engineers look to bounce back from a 7-24 season in 2023 that included a 1-14 record in the HCAC.
» Newsom has been the standout at the plate after her breakout performance against the Griffins. She leads the team with a 1.080 OPS totaling 17 hits with two home runs and a slugging percentage of .689.
» Newsome also leads the team with eight extra-base hits and 11 RBIs this season.

Kayla Schnippel has a team-high .382 batting average totaling 13 hits and nine RBIs.

Aubrey Smith had a strong showing this weekend earning both wins over the Griffins in the circle.
» Smith leads the team with a 2.43 ERA and a record of 3-0. She has pitched 23.0 innings and totaled a team-high 20 strikeouts.Â
» The Fightin' Engineers have gone a perfect 17-17 as a team on stolen bases so far this season ranking third in the HCAC.Â
» Rose-Hulman was selected ninth overall in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll. The Fightin' Engineers received 20 poll points.

» Webster enters the weekend doubleheader with a record of 11-7-1 overall.Â
» The team comes off a sweep of Dubuque with final scores of 3-2 and 7-3.Â
» Katie Croxall is the team's leading hitter with a batting average of .437 totaling 31 hits and 19 runs scored.
» Paige Thomas has also been a standout with a team-high 1.206 OPS, 10 doubles, and two home runs.
» Cheyenne Dickens is the ace in the circle for the Gorloks with a 3.08 ERA and an undefeated 5-0 record.
» The Gorloks will host the Eureka Red Devils on Friday, March 29 at 2 PM and 4 PM.

» Eureka sits at 5-4 overall this season entering the weekend of competition.Â
» The team will host Mount Mary on Saturday, March 23 at 12 PM and 2 PM CT before facing the Fightin' Engineers on Sunday.
» The Red Devils wrapped up their spring trip last week with a win over Lesley 9-3.Â
» The team went 5-2 over the course of their trip to Florida with wins over Wis. Superior, North Central (MN), Saint Joseph (Conn.), Crown (Minn.), and Lesley.
» KayLee Houhlbauch lead the team with 12 hits, five doubles, and eight RBIs this season.
