TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team will continue HCAC play traveling to take on Earlham College on Tuesday, April 9 at 3 PM and 5 PM.
ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
» The Fightin' Engineers stand at 12-8 overall this season and 1-1 in the HCAC.
» The team comes off a split in their HCAC opening doubleheader against Defiance College winning the first game 9-0 before falling in game two 2-1.
» The team's win in game one of the doubleheader was the team's first win against the Yellow Jackets since 2017.
» This snaps Defiance's 12-game winning streak against the Fightin' Engineers.
» Rose-Hulman started their season with their spring trip to Florida finishing the week with a record of 6-4 overall.
» The Fightin' Engineers earned four wins against Grove City and two wins against Houghton on the trip.
» Rose-Hulman opens their 22nd consecutive season under head coach
Brian Shearer as the Fightin' Engineers look to bounce back from a 7-24 season in 2023 that included a 1-14 record in the HCAC.

Jessica Newsom leads the Fightin' Engineers with 28 hits, 11 extra-base hits, a batting average of .384, a slugging percentage of .644 and seven stolen bases this year.

Aubrey Smith has also been a standout at the plate with a team-high 16 RBIs and .452 on-base percentage.
» Smith has been the go to pitcher for Rose-Hulman leading the team with 48.1 innings pitched, a 2.17 ERA, and 40 strikeouts.
» The Fightin' Engineers have gone a perfect 19-19 as a team on stolen bases so far this season ranking fifth in the HCAC.
» Rose-Hulman was selected ninth overall in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll. The Fightin' Engineers received 20 poll points.

» The Fightin' Engineers will return to action traveling to face Blackburn on Thursday, April 11 at 3 PM and 5 PM.
EARLHAM NOTES:
» The Earlham Quakers enter the match up with the Fightin' Engineers with a record of 7-13 overall and 2-2 in the HCAC.
» The Quakers softball program returns to Earlham for the first time in 30 years in the 2024 season.
» The team comes off two losses to Transylvania University with final scores of 5-1 and 2-0.
» The Quakers are led by Bo Shelton at the plate with 28 hits, nine doubles, two home runs, a .444 batting average, a 1.192 OPS, a .714 slugging percentage and .478 on-base percentage.
» Morgan Cooksey leads the team in the circle pitching 65.1 innings with 68 strikeouts.
» After hosting Rose-Hulman, the team will travel to take on Kenyon College on Thursday, April 11 at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM.
