Softball Hosts Transylvania for Senior Day on Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team will host #25 Transylvania University in the final doubleheader of the season for Senior Day on Saturday, May 4 at 1 PM and 3 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
» The Fightin' Engineers enter their doubleheader against the top team in the conference with a record of 21-17 overall and 8-8 in the HCAC. 
» The team comes off a split with Hanover on Wednesday winning game one 4-3, and falling in game two 9-7.
» The team then dropped two games to Spalding on Thursday with final scores of 9-1 and 5-3.
» Rose-Hulman was selected ninth overall in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason poll. The Fightin' Engineers received 20 poll points. Phoebe WorstellKatelyn SarvisJadyn Winkler, and Smith were named Players to Watch.
» The team currently stands in fifth place in the HCAC standings behind Transylvania, Franklin, Mount St. Joseph, and Defiance. 
» The top six teams in the conference standings will advance to the HCAC Tournament.
» Rose-Hulman currently ranks 35th in the nation and third in the conference with 20 home runs this season. 
» Jessica Newsom leads the Fightin' Engineers with a .398 batting average, 34 runs scored, 51 hits, six home runs, 26 RBIs, a .664 slugging percentage, and a .431 on-base percentage. 
» Aubrey Smith has also been a standout at the plate with a .306 batting average, 37 hits, and 23 RBIs.
» Smith has been the leading pitcher for the Fightin' Engineers with a 2.73 ERA pitching 89.2 innings with 65 strikeouts. 
» Phoebe Worstell has also been a weapon for the Fightin' Engineers in the circle with a 2.86 ERA, 85.2 innings pitched, and 55 strikeouts.
» Depending on final results from the conference competitions this weekend, the Fightin' Engineers will look ahead to compete in the HCAC Tournament from Thursday, May 9 to Sunday, May 12. 

#25 TRANSYLVANIA NOTES:
» Transylvania University enters the weekend with a record of 19-8 overall and 14-2 in the HCAC.
» The Pioneers currently rank 25th in all of NCAA Division III in the NFCA rankings.
» The team has already clinched their spot in the HCAC Tournament and is currently the favorite to claim the #1 seed after sweeping Franklin College with scores of 3-2 and 6-1. 
» Stella Wulker leads the team at the plate with 42 hits, 27 runs scored, seven home runs, and 38 RBIs.
» Sophie Moshos is the teams leading pitcher with a 1.67 ERA, 109.0 innings pitched, and 144 strikeouts.
» After facing Rose-Hulman, the Pioneers will compete as the #1 or #2 seed in the HCAC Tournament from Thursday, May 9 to Sunday, May 12.
