CARMEL, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its yearly awards for the sport of football. 13 Rose-Hulman student-athletes have been honored in this year's release.
Rose-Hulman totaled five First Team All-HCAC honorees, including senior defensive lineman

Antonio Barnes, senior tight end
Ben Klein, senior offensive lineman
Casey McQueen, and senior running back
Jay Smith.
The Fightin' Engineers had five Second Team All-HCAC honorees, including junior defensive back
Wyatt Bell, sophomore linebacker
Rudy Griffing, sophomore linebacker
Austin Hastings, senior kicker
Trevor Saguto, and junior defensive lineman
Augustus Shryock.
The awards announcement also included senior offensive lineman
Landon Cahoon, senior linebacker
Marshall Koch, and junior running back
Alexander Marsteller earning Honorable Mention All-HCAC.
Gabe Adams was a strong force on the Fightin' Engineers defensive line this season. He played in eight games, missing the last two contests due to injury, but was still able to make an impact. Adams finished the year leading the team in quarterback hurries with eight, and ranking second on the team with 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He ended the year ranking fourth in the conference for tackles for loss and total sacks. He ends his Rose-Hulman career ranking second in the single-season record books with eight quarterback hurries and fourth in the career record books with 15 hurries.
Antonio Barnes was another defensive standout. He played every game this season, totaling 77 tackles with two pass breakups and one forced fumble. He ranks sixth in the HCAC in total tackles and 7.7 tackles per game. Barnes also lead the Fightin' Engineers and ranks fifth in the conference with 42 solo tackles.
Ben Klein led the receiving core for the Fightin' Engineers this season. Klein played in all 10 games, totaling 28 catches for 282 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 10.07 yards per catch and 28.2 yards per game. Klein finished the season ranking 15th in the conference in receptions and receptions per game, 19th in receiving yards, and 17th in touchdowns.
Casey McQueen was an anchor on the offensive line, starting in all 10 games for the Fightin' Engineers. He led an offensive line that contributed to 1,250 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns this season. His efforts were essential in the Fightin' Engineers offense that averaged 4.1 yards per play and 270.5 yards of total offense per game.
Jay Smith finished his stellar career with an impressive senior season. Smith battled injuries toward the end of the season that limited him in the Fightin' Engineers final couple of games. He finished the season as the team's leading rusher, totaling 199 attempts for 665 rushing yards and five touchdowns, averaging 73.9 yards per game. Smith was also a valuable receiver, totaling 26 receptions for 157 yards with one receiving touchdown. Despite his injury, he still managed to lead the conference in rushing yards, rushing attempts, and average rushing yards per game. Smith finishes his career ranking fourth in the career school record books with 2,903 rushing yards, fourth with 654 rush attempts, fifth with 31 rushing touchdowns, and fourth with 80.6 rushing yards per game.
Wyatt Bell led the defensive backs this season. Bell totaled 34 solo tackles, 58 total tackles, and a team-high three interceptions and 11 pass breakups. Bell led the conference with his 11 pass breakups this season and ranked fourth with his three interceptions. Bell currently ranks first in the career record books with three interceptions returned for a touchdown, fifth in pass breakups with 29, and 14th in interceptions return yards with 120.
Rudy Griffing had a breakout season for the Fightin' Engineers in the linebacker position. Griffing led the team with 87 tackles with 50 assisted tackles, and recorded 3.5 tackles for loss with 0.5 sacks. He also added two pass breakups, one quarterback hurry, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Griffing finished the year ranking second in the conference in assisted tackles, and third in total tackles and tackles per game.
Austin Hastings has been another defensive standout for the Fightin' Engineers this season. Hastings totaled 67 tackles, one pass breakup, two quarterback hurries, and a team high seven forced fumbles. He leads the conference and all of NCAA DIII in forced fumbles this season, which is also a Rose-Hulman single-season record. He also ranks fourth in the conference for assisted tackles and eighth in the conference for total tackles. Hastings is now listed in multiple categories of the career school record book, ranking first in forced fumbles with 11, third in quarterback hurries with 16, eighth in assisted tackles with 139, 10th in tackles for loss with 30.5, and 12th in total tackles with 277.
Trevor Saguto has been an essential piece for the Fightin' Engineers' special teams as the leader of the kicking unit. Saguto totaled 44 punts this season for 1,753 yards, averaging 39.84 yards per punt. He pinned four punts inside the 20 and had three punts of over 50 yards. Saguto also went 8-11 on field goals this season, a total of 72.73 percent, with a long of 36 yards. Saguto also went 22-23 on extra points this season. He was the team's leading scorer with 46 points on the year. Saguto has made his mark on the single-season record book, ranking 12th in field goals made with eight, sixth in field goal percentage at 72.7, and fifth in extra point field goal percentage at 95.7.
Augustus Shryock was another force on the defensive line for Rose-Hulman. He totaled 35 tackles, 3.5 sacks, three quarterback hurries, and a team-high 10 tackles for loss. He finished the season ranking third in the conference in tackles for loss and sixth in the HCAC in tackle for loss yardage with 45. He currently ranks ninth in the career school record books with eight quarterback hurries.
Landon Cahoon was a key contributor on the offensive line for the Fightin' Engineers. Cahoon started all 10 games for Rose-Hulman, and helped establish an offensive line that contributed to 1,250 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns this season. He was an integral part of the offensive line that averaged 4.1 yards per play and 270.5 yards of total offense per game.
Marshall Koch was an outstanding leader on the Rose-Hulman defense. He finished the year with 47 tackles, 32 assisted tackles, six tackles for loss, and two sacks. He ranked 16th in the HCAC for tackles for loss and 11th in assisted tackles. He currently ranks seventh in the career school record books with 11 quarterback hurries.
Alexander Marsteller stepped into the starting running back role due to the injury to Smith halfway through the season. Marsteller took advantage of the opportunity, totaling 579 yards on the season with five rushing touchdowns, averaging 72.38 yards rushing per game. He also totaled 14 receptions for 118 yards and one receiving touchdown. Marsteller finished the year ranking second in the HCAC in rushing yards per game and first with the longest run of the season by an HCAC back at 66 yards. He also ranked eighth in the conference with 5.4 yards per carry and five touchdowns on the year.
Rose-Hulman finished fifth in the HCAC this season with an overall record of 3-7 and 3-3 in the HCAC.
