CARMEL, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its weekly award winners for the sport of women's track & field. Rose-Hulman landed two award winners in this week's release, with
Rose Talbert earning HCAC Sprint/Hurdles Athlete of the Week, and
Juliana Carragher earning HCAC Distance Athlete of the Week.
Both Talbert and Carragher contributed to a second-place team finish for Rose-Hulman at the Fightin' Engineer Invitational to start the indoor track & field season.
Talbert picked up two event wins in the Fightin' Engineers' season opener. The junior mechanical engineering major recorded wins in the 400-meter dash (1:00.41) and in the 200-meter dash (26.29). Both times are the fastest in the conference in those events so far this season.
Carragher led the distance team for the Fightin' Engineers. The sophomore civil engineering major recorded a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 12:10.71. This is also the fastest time in the event across the HCAC so far this season.
This is the 10th HCAC Athlete of the Week award for Talbert and the first for Carragher in their college careers.
The women's track & field team will return to action this Friday, December 12, at the John Gartland Invitational hosted by Indiana State.
