Softball Resumes Competition This Weekend Against Greenville

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team resumes competition this weekend facing Greenville in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 22, at 1 PM and 3 PM CT.

ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman stands at 6-4 overall this season after completing their Florida Trip.
* The team returns to competition after playing 10 games to start the season at the Space Coast Complex in Melbourne, Florida. 
* Jessica Newsom has been the standout at the plate, leading the team with 14 hits, eight runs scored, and two stolen bases this season. 
* Aubrey Smith has also been a productive hitter, leading the team with a .419 batting average, a 1.196 OPS, four doubles, one home run, and 15 RBIs.
* Phoebe Worstell earned HCAC Pitcher of the Week for her performance over the spring trip, finishing the week with a record of 3-1 in the circle with 18.1 innings pitched, a 3.05 ERA, and 18 strikeouts. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have been picked to finish seventh in the HCAC preseason poll receiving 34 points. 
* The team finished last year with a record of 21-19 overall and 8-10 in the HCAC.
* Last season is just the second 20-win season for the Fightin' Engineers in the past 16 years. 
* Jessica Newsom is the lone All-HCAC returner after earning First Team All-HCAC during her freshman campaign.
* Phoebe Worstell, Jadyn Winkler, and Aubrey Smith have also been named players to watch by the HCAC. 
* After facing Greenville and Webster, Rose-Hulman will open HCAC play on the road against Transylvania in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 29, at 1 PM and 3 PM. 

GREENVILLE NOTES:
* Greenville currently stands at 8-0 so far this season.
* The Panthers come off a sweep over Illinois College with final scores of 4-3 and 8-5. 
* The team will travel to face the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Thursday, March 20, at 2 PM and 4 PM CT before hosting Rose-Hulman.
* Natalee Moore leads the team at the plate with a .435 batting average, 10 hits, and 13 RBIs.
* Ashlyn Colvis is another standout with a .375 batting average, totaling nine hits, and three RBIs.
* After hosting Rose-Hulman, Greenville will host Crowley's Ridge College on Tuesday, March 25, at 2 PM and 4 PM CT.

GREENVILLE SERIES HISTORY:
* Both programs are tied in the all-time series between both teams with a record of 9-9. 
* The teams split in their last doubleheader during the 2024 season with Greenville winning the first game 11-3, and Rose-Hulman bouncing back in the second game 2-0. 
* Rose-Hulman has an all-time away record of 3-3 when traveling to face Greenville.
