TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team will open conference play, traveling to face Transylvania on Saturday, March 29, at 1 PM and 3 PM.

* Rose-Hulman stands at 6-8 overall and 0-2 in the HCAC this season
* The team comes off two losses to Transylvania with final scores of 8-1 and 6-4.Â

Jessica Newsom has been the standout at the plate, leading the team with 19 hits, 10 runs scored, and two stolen bases this season.Â

Aubrey Smith has also been a productive hitter, leading the team with a .405 batting average, a 1.146 OPS, six doubles, one home run, and 16 RBIs.

Phoebe Worstell leads the team in the circle with 28.0 innings pitched, 25 strikeouts, and a team-best 4.00 ERA.Â
* The Fightin' Engineers have been picked to finish seventh in the HCAC preseason poll, receiving 34 points.Â
* The team finished last year with a record of 21-19 overall and 8-10 in the HCAC.

* The Beavers enter the weekend with a record of 10-14 overall and 0-4 in the HCAC this season.Â
* The team comes off two losses to Manchester with scores of 4-2 and 13-5.
* Kaylee Grant leads the team at the plate with a .421 batting average and a .485 batting average with 24 hits, 15 runs scored, and 12 RBIs.Â
