Cate Stauffer Named HCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Year

CARMEL, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has named Cate Stauffer the HCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Year for her exceptional performances this season. Stauffer was acknowledged with the honor along with Celeste Hillis and Kat Lundy from Franklin College.

Stauffer and the Fightin' Engineers earned a third-place finish at the HCAC Championships this season. The senior mechanical engineering major earned three event wins at the conference meet in the 200 IM, 400 IM, and the 200 breaststroke. She was also a part of three first-place relay teams, including the 200 medley, 400 medley, and the 800 freestyle relay. 

Stauffer finished the season breaking four individual school records and contributing to one relay record. Her individual school records include the 400 IM (4:33.91), 100 breaststroke (1:06.68), 200 breaststroke (2:24.03), and 100 freestyle (53.27). She was also a member of the 800 freestyle relay team that broke the school record with a time of 7:55.42.

The HCAC male and female swimming and diving athlete of the year honors consider the student-athletes' entire resume of accomplishments across the entire season.
