Softball Hosts Two HCAC Doubleheaders This Weekend Against Manchester and Earlham

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team will continue their conference schedule, hosting Manchester and Earlham this weekend in HCAC action. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman stands at 14-10 overall and 6-4 in the HCAC this season.
* The team has won four straight games, sweeping Blackburn on Monday, 5-0, 12-0, and defeating Hanover 8-4, 12-6. 
Aubrey Smith had an exceptional performance in the first game of the doubleheader against Blackburn, pitching a no-hitter and a shutout with 7.0 innings pitched and seven strikeouts. 
* Smith totals 67.0 innings pitched, 45 strikeouts, and a 3.55 ERA this season.
Jessica Newsom has been the standout at the plate, leading the team with 34 hits, 21 runs scored, and five stolen bases this season. 
Aubrey Smith has also been a productive hitter with a .370 batting average, a 1.123 OPS, 10 doubles, three home runs, and 27 RBIs.
Phoebe Worstell has made an impact in the circle this season, totaling 48.1 innings pitched, 52 strikeouts, and a 3.77 ERA.
* The Fightin' Engineers have been picked to finish seventh in the HCAC preseason poll, receiving 34 points. 
* The team finished last year with a record of 21-19 overall and 8-10 in the HCAC.
* Last season is just the second 20-win season for the Fightin' Engineers in the past 16 years. 
Jessica Newsom is the lone All-HCAC returner after earning First Team All-HCAC during her freshman campaign.
Phoebe WorstellJadyn Winkler, and Aubrey Smith have also been named players to watch by the HCAC. 
* After hosting Manchester and Earlham this weekend, Rose-Hulman will travel to take on Anderson on Wednesday, April 30, at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM. 

MANCHESTER NOTES:
* Manchester enters the weekend with a record of 15-11 overall and 6-6 in the HCAC this season. 
* The team comes off a split in their doubleheader against Earlham on Wednesday, falling in game one 6-3, and winning game two 5-0.
* Kendal Rider leads the team with 36 hits, 24 runs scored, 12 doubles, and 18 RBIs.
* Lizzy Willis is the team's top pitcher with 62.0 innings pitched, 21 strikeouts, and a 3.73 ERA.
* Manchester was selected to finish fifth in the HCAC preseason poll with 49 points. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, Manchester will host Heidelberg on Thursday, April 24, at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM. 

MANCHESTER SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series against Manchester with a record of 16-28 all-time.
* The teams split their doubleheader in their last meeting with Manchester, earning the win in the first game 4-3, and Rose-Hulman winning game two 7-4. 
* Rose-Hulman has an all-time home record of 7-15 when hosting Manchester. 

EARLHAM NOTES:
* Earlham stands at 20-10 overall and 7-3 in the HCAC. 
* The team will face Bluffton in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 26, before taking on Rose-Hulman on Sunday, April 27. 
* Bo Shelton leads the team at the plate with 25 hits, eight doubles, 13 RBIs, and a .338 batting average. 
* Morgan Cooksey is the top pitcher for the Quakers with 83.0 innings pitched, 77 strikeouts, and a 1.35 ERA.
* Earlham has been picked to finish fourth in the HCAC preseason poll with 50 points. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, Earlham will travel to take on Mount St. Joseph on Tuesday, April 29, at 4 PM and 6 PM. 

EARLHAM SERIES HISTORY:
* Both teams are tied in their all-time series with a record of 1-1. 
* The teams split their doubleheader last season, with the Quakers winning game one 2-0, and Rose-Hulman claiming a victory in game two 2-1.
* This will be the first time that Rose-Hulman hosts Earlham softball in program history.
