TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its annual awards for the sport of baseball. Rose-Hulman had four student-athletes receive recognition for their accomplishments this season.
Connor O'Connell earned First-Team All-HCAC honors this year.
Jackson Harms and
Tyler Otroszko were awarded Second-Team All-HCAC for their efforts.
Mason Rasmussen rounded out the Rose-Hulman honorees, receiving honorable mention.
O'Connell led the team with a .363 batting average, totaling 29 runs scored, 61 hits, 13 doubles, three triples, six home runs, 40 RBIs, and an on-base percentage of .445. The junior biomedical engineering major finished the year ranking fourth in the conference in hits and fifth in triples. O'Connell currently ranks 14th in the school record book with 109 career RBIs and 14th in career doubles with 37.
Harms made an immediate impact in his first year with the Fightin' Engineers. The mechanical engineering major finished the season with a .330 batting average, totaling 20 runs scored, 32 hits, four doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 23 RBIs. In conference play, he ranked seventh with a .393 batting average and ranked 15th with a .536 slugging percentage.
Otroszko was another standout hitter in the Fightin' Engineers lineup this season. The chemical engineering major ranked second on the team with a .362 batting average, totaling 33 runs scored, 47 hits, 10 doubles, five triples, three home runs, and 23 RBIs. Otroszko led the conference with five triples this season and ranked sixth in the conference in batting average. His five triples rank fifth in the Rose-Hulman single-season record books.
Rasmussen represented the Fightin' Engineers behind the plate this season as the team's starting catcher. He finished the year with a batting average of .319, totaling 29 runs scored, 51 hits, 13 doubles, two home runs, and 29 RBIs. The chemical engineering major ranks 10th in the conference in doubles and 13th in putouts this season. Rasmussen currently sits at 14th in the school record books with 526 career putouts.
The Fightin' Engineers finished another winning season, earning the #3 seed in the HCAC Tournament. The team ended the year with a record of 23-19 overall and 14-8 in the HCAC.
