Rose-Hulman Takes Third at Rhodes Fall Invitational

TUNICA, Miss. – Rose-Hulman wrapped up the Rhodes Fall Invitational with their second straight third-place finish on the season. The Fightin' Engineers recorded an 889 (+25) score as a team, highlighted by a 288 (E) score on round three.
 
Junior Austin Frick led the way for RHIT, achieving a third-place finish with a 215 (-1) score. Frick recorded a 71 (-1) score on day one while hitting three total birdies. He recorded back-to-back 72 (E) scores on rounds two and three, while recording four birdies on round two and five on the final round. Frick finished the meet with 12 birdies, while also recording an eagle on the opening round.
 
Senior Ryan Beerheide posted a 222 (+6) score, where he improved his score on each round (76-74-72). Beerheide hit 12 birdies across the competition as well, with four coming on round one, five on round two and three on the final round. He would also record one eagle which came in the second round.
 
Sophomore Nate Benson and senior Owen King finished one-point apart from each other with Benson accumulating a 226 (+10) score to take 22nd place, while King recorded a 227 (+11) score to finish in 25th.
 
Benson recorded a total of five birdies, with four coming on the final round. He recorded scores of 75 and 77 across the first two rounds, before posting hit best score of 74 on round three to close out the competition.
 
King hit a total of three birdies on round one with a score of 79, and one birdie on round two with a 78 score. He would have a very successful final round as he recorded the best score of round three at 70 (-2). Across round three, King hit three birdies while also adding a team-high two eagles.
 
Senior Ben Brander added a 36th-place finish with a score of 232 (+16). Brander also continued to improve his score on each round, recording splits of 79-77-76. He finished the competition with six total birdies while adding an eagle on round two.
 
Transylvania placed first overall as a team with a 874 (+10) score, while hosts, Rhodes, took second place with a score of 886 (+22).
 
The Fightin' Engineers will be back in action on Sunday, October 12, through Tuesday, October 14, as they compete at the D3 Fall Classic. The three-day event will take place at the Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, Fla.
