Fightin' Engineers Host Berea in HCAC Opener

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Rose-Hulman will compete in their first HCAC game of the season as they host the Berea Mountaineers, Saturday, September 27, at 3:30 PM.
 
ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman has recorded a mark of 5-2-1.
* They rank atop the HCAC along with Anderson (5-2-1) and Hanover (5-2-2).
* The Fightin' Engineers are coming off a 1-1 tie against #11-Ohio Northern.
* Rose-Hulman has won four out of five games at home.
* Two of those games were shutout victories (3-0 vs. Principia | 5-0 vs. Millikin)
* Senior Weston Seybold has scored two goals over the past three games.
* Sophomore Ryan Shapiro has scored a team-best eight points with three goals and two assists.
* Junior Chase Kedzior leads the HCAC with 12 shots on goal.
* Kedzior has recorded two goals and two assists this season.
* Senior Aidan Kriek is coming off an HCAC Defensive Player of the Week award.
* Kriek and senior Peter Borger have appeared in all 90 minutes of Rose's past three games.
* Kriek and freshman Justin Burns have been named the HCAC Defensive Player of the Week two times.
* Burns has accumulated a 78.1% save percentage with 25 saves.
* Burns leads the HCAC with three shutouts as well as a 0.88 goals allowed per game average.
 
BEREA NOTES:
* The Mountaineers are currently 0-5-1 this season.
* They are coming off a 1-1 tie against Brevard College.
* Their five losses all came on the road, where they were shut out four times.
* Sophomore Peter Mensah and freshman Ombeni Shandera have each scored one goal.
* Freshman Will Godby has recorded one assist.
* Mensah has appeared in all 90 minutes in every game this year.
* Senior Eris Acosta has recorded a 66.7% save percentage with 36 saves.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
* This will be the second career match-up between Rose-Hulman and Berea.
* Rose-Hulman defeated Berea 3-0 in their first meeting last season.
* Sophomore Cameron Hannah scored the opening goal in the 31st minute on an assist from Julius Salinas.
* Shapiro recorded a 34th-minute goal on an assist from Kedzior and Elijah Hardersen.
* Sophomore Landon Kansas scored the final goal in the 51st, with Shapiro and sophomore Sidharth Ganeshbabu picking up the assists.
