CARMEL, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its weekly award winners for the sport of men's track & field.
Kolton Nanko earned HCAC Jumps Athlete of the Week and
Brady Socha was named the HCAC Distance Athlete of the Week for their performances at the Indiana State Open this past weekend.
Nanko set a personal best in the pole vault at the Indiana State Open. The mechanical engineering major finished second overall with a jump of 4.81m (15' 9.25"). The Yorktown, Indiana native's height is the top mark in the HCAC so far this season. The height also ranks 25th in all of NCAA Division III.
Socha earned a top-10 finish at the Indiana State Open in the 800-meter run. The chemical engineering major placed 10th overall with a time of 1:58.60. His time is the fourth fastest time in the HCAC this season. The Edwards, Illinois native holds the second-fastest time in the event across the conference, performed earlier this season at the Rose-Hulman Classic with a time of 1:58.09.
This is the first HCAC Track & Field Athlete of the Week honor for both Nanko and Socha in their college careers with the Fightin' Engineers.
The Rose-Hulman men's track & field team will return to action in the HCAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 28, at 11 AM.
