Fightin' Engineers Host Outdoor Season Opener at Early Bird Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers open the outdoor track season at home for the Early Bird Invitational. The meet will take place on Saturday, March 21, at 11 AM.
 
ROSE-HULMAN MEN'S TRACK & FIELD NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers concluded the indoor season as 2026 HCAC Champions.
* Rose-Hulman recorded six first-place finishes while finishing with a team score of 215 points.
* Senior Joshua Pohle won the 5,000m with a time of 15:07.08.
* Pohle also set the school record in the 5,000m earlier this season with a time of 14:42.09.
* William Fleck recorded a win in the 60m hurdles, with the fourth-best time in RHIT history at 8.41.
* James Kaunas also recorded the fourth-best triple jump in school history, with a jump of 45' 5" to finish first overall.
* Andrew Shields and Kolton Nanko each set HCAC Meet Records in their first-place finishes as well.
* Shields won the 400m dash with a time of 49.51, where he was named HCAC Sprint Athlete of the Year.
* He also earned two HCAC Sprinter of the Week Awards throughout the season.
* Nanko won the pole vault with a jump of 15' 11", which is the fifth-best score in program history.
* Connor Bodie, Wyatt Starkie, Alejandro Clark, and Andrew Shields added a first-place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:26.24.
 
ROSE-HULMAN WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman ended the indoor season as the 2026 HCAC Champions as well.
* The Fightin' Engineers earned 171 points, just surpassing Manchester at 169.5 points.
* RHIT recorded eight first place finishes at the Championship Meet.
* Irene Lema Madueno set a school record in her first-place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 11' 1.75".
* Lema Madueno broke her own school record of 11' 0.25" that she had previously set the week before.
* Jocelyn Onstot won both the mile run with a time of 5:06.41 and the 800m with an HCAC record time of 2:18.03.
* Following her performance, Onstot was named HCAC Distance Athlete of the Year.
* Onstot previously set a school record in the mile run as well, with a time of 4:54.32.
* Rose Talbert won the 400m in 58.04 with an HCAC Meet Record time of 58.04.
* For her efforts, Talbert was named HCAC Sprint Athlete of the Year.
* Talbert also set a school record in the 400m earlier this season, completing the race in 57.39.
* Alex Adams recorded the second fastest 60m in school history with a time of 7.93 to finish first overall.
* Narindwa Semakula added a win in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.38.
* The Fightin' Engineers placed first overall in two relay events.
* Adams, Semakula, Iliana Hernandez, and Ella Schulz won the 4x200m relay in 1:47.38.
* Talbert, Onstot, Mackenna Bessler, and Gaby Hansen won the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:10.85.
