CARMEL, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its weekly award winners for the sport of women's track & field.
Irene Lema Madueno earned HCAC Jumps Athlete of the Week for her record-breaking performance at the Indiana State Open this past weekend.
Lema Madueno had a record-breaking performance in the pole vault at the Indiana State Open on Saturday. The mechanical engineering major broke the Rose-Hulman school record in the event after clearing a height of 3.36 meters (11' 0.25"). The Arcadia, California native's finish is the best mark across the entire HCAC this season in the event.
This breaks the record previously set by Mallory McDevitt of 10' "8 in 2016.
This is the first HCAC Athlete of the Week award for Lema Madueno in her college career with the Fightin' Engineers.
The Rose-Hulman women's track & field team will return to action in the HCAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 28, at 11 AM.
