CARMEL, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced their weekly award winners for the sport of women's track & field.
Rose Talbert earned HCAC Sprint Athlete of the Week for the Fightin' Engineers, and
Jocelyn Onstot claimed HCAC Distance Athlete of the Week for Rose-Hulman.
Talbert had a record-breaking performance for the Fightin' Engineers this past weekend. The chemical engineering and mechanical engineering major broke her own school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.39. The Monticello, Illinois native's time on a banked track converts to 58.16, which is the fastest time in the conference this season. Her time also ranks 43rd in all of NCAA DIII so far this season.
Onstot led the distance team for Rose-Hulman with a record-breaking performance in the mile at the Grand Valley State Big Meet. The electrical engineering and mechanical engineering major broke the Rose-Hulman record in the event, going sub-five, with a time of 4:54.32. The time on a banked track converts to 4:57.24 and is the fastest time in the conference this season by more than 10 seconds. The Cary, Illinois native's time ranks 17th in all of NCAA DIII.
This is the sixth career HCAC Athlete of the Week for Onstot and the 12th award for Talbert in their college careers with the Fightin' Engineers.
The Rose-Hulman women's track & field team will look ahead to competing in the Indiana State Open on Saturday, February 21, at 12 PM.
