TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers recorded a fifth-place finish out of 11 teams at the Indiana State Open. Rose-Hulman accumulated 26 total points, highlighted by three top-three finishes.
Irene Lema Madueno had a record-breaking performance after clearing a height of 11' 0.25" in the pole vault. Her mark is a new school record in the event, beating out the previous record of 10' 8" set by Mallory McDevitt set in 2016.
Rose Talbert put together a phenomenal performance as she placed second overall in both of her events. She recorded a time of 58.24 in the 400m, which was faster than the previous meet record, and she added a time of 25.72 in the 200m.
Jocelyn Onstot posted a third-place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:19.21.
Audrey Edwards and
Carolina Snyder-Perez each added seventh-place finishes in their respective events. Edwards recorded a jump of 1.55m in the high jump, and Snyder-Perez recorded a throw of 10.03m in the shot put.
Rose-Hulman will take on the HCAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, February 28, at a time that is yet to be determined.
