CARMEL, Ind. – Rose-Hulman's trio of
Katelyn Fennell,
Emma Schipp, and
Kaia Peterson have each been awarded all-conference honors.
Katelyn Fennell was named to the All-HCAC Second Team,
Emma Schipp was selected as an All-HCAC Honorable Mention, and
Kaia Peterson was named to the HCAC All-Newcomer team.
Katelyn Fennell was a certified bucket getter all throughout the season, as she finished eighth in the conference with 14.8 points per game. Fennell led the HCAC in three-point percentage, shooting 41.3% from beyond the arc (43-104). The sophomore also finished second in the conference in both field goal percentage at 46.8% (141-301) and free throw percentage at 87.0% (60-69). Fennell has scored in double figures in 16 consecutive games, which is Rose-Hulman's longest streak since 2011-12. This run includes a career-high 30-point performance against Berea, where Fennell shot 11-15 from the floor and a perfect 5-5 from three-point range. She has scored 20-points against both Hanover and Mt. St. Joseph, as well as a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double against Bluffton. Fennell led Rose-Hulman with 6.2 rebounds per game, which ranked 12
th-overall in the HCAC. She added 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game on the year, while accumulating a season-best four steals against Millikin.
Emma Schipp recorded 9.3 points and 2.0 assists per game, while finishing 13
th in the conference with 6.0 rebounds per game. The sophomore posted a team-high three double-doubles, which included a 20-point, 10-rebound performance against Franklin. Schipp hauled in ten or more rebounds in four games this season, highlighted by a career-high 13 rebounds against Hanover, while adding 11 points. She scored a season-high 21 points against Anderson, shooting 9-13 from the floor and 3-5 from beyond the arc with nine rebounds. In the HCAC Quarterfinals, Schipp led the Fightin' Engineers with 18 points and eight rebounds, while shooting 7-16 overall and 2-4 from three-point range.
Kaia Peterson scored 10.1 points per game, while adding 3.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. She shot 41.3% (93-225) from the floor and 77.8% (70-90) at the free throw line, which ranked eighth in the conference. Peterson made an immediate impact for the Fightin' Engineers, achieving a 17-point, ten-rebound double-double in just the fifth game of her career. The freshman scored in double figures in the final four games of the regular season, highlighted by a season-high 18 points against Mt. St. Joseph. Peterson shot 5-10 in the match while converting 8-11 of her shots at the free throw line. She added her second double-double in the regular season finale with 13 points and ten rebounds.
The Fightin' Engineers recorded a 9-17 overall record, while going 8-10 in the HCAC. Rose-Hulman won three of their final four games to close out the month of December, and they also won four of their final five games to conclude the regular season. The Fightin' Engineers' year was highlighted by a 25-point victory over Anderson on Senior Day, as well as their back-to-back wins at the end of the regular season, which clinched the #6-seed in the HCAC Tournament.
