Men's Hoops Totals Four All-HCAC Honorees with Gentile Earning Newcomer of the Year

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman landed four student-athletes on the HCAC All-Conference list. Joey Schmitz and Cole Pride received First Team, while Evan Gentile and Daniel Savovic earned Honorable Mention for their efforts during the 2025-26 season. Gentile was also named the HCAC Newcomer of the Year. 

Schmitz was a standout guard for the Fightin' Engineers all season. He leads the team with 14.8 points per game, totaling 142 field goals made and 68 three-pointers. Schmitz also totaled 3.0 rebounds per game on the season and tallied 44 assists and 45 steals. He also leads the team, shooting 42.5% from beyond the arc this year. In the conference, Schmitz ranks ninth in scoring average, eighth in total points, fourth in field goals made, and second in three-pointers made. He also ranks fifth in field goal percentage and second in three-pointers per game.

Pride was the big man for Rose-Hulman, dominating in the paint this season. Pride averages 13.0 points per game with 4.8 rebounds per game. He also totaled 32 assists and 19 steals with a team-high 25 blocked shots. Pride has a field goal percentage of 49.5% and has shot well from three, at 31.7%. Pride ranks 4th in the conference in blocked shots and 14th in scoring average.

Gentile has been a spark for the Fightin' Engineers as a standout freshman for the squad. Gentile averages 10.7 points per game with 103 field goals made and 55 three-pointers on the season. He also totaled 48 assists and 30 steals on the year. Gentile has been exceptional at shooting the ball with a 44.8% field goal percentage and a 39.3% three-point percentage. He ranks fourth in the conference in three-pointers made and 21st in scoring average. He also ranks 11th in field goal percentage and sixth in three-point field goals per game. 

Savovic has been another reliable performer for the Fightin' Engineers. He averages 10.3 points per game with 3.6 rebounds. He ranks second on the team with 57 assists and has totaled 13 steals this year. Savovic ranks 21st in the HCAC in scoring average and 20th in three-pointers made. He also ranks 19th in total assists and 18th in assists per game.

The Fightin' Engineers will face Anderson in the semifinal round of the HCAC Tournament on Friday, February 27, at 7 PM. The team will look to advance to its first HCAC Championship since the 2022-23 season. With a win, the team will face the winner of Transylvania and Franklin in the HCAC Championship on Saturday, February 28, at 6 PM.
