CARMEL, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced the Christopher M. Ragsdale Sportsmanship Team for the winter season during the 2025-26 academic year.
Catherine Arrandale from the women's swimming and diving team and
Jack Murphy from the men's basketball team represent the Fightin' Engineers in the awards announcement.
Arrandale was a senior standout on the women's swim-dive team. She is a biomedical engineering major from Madison, Connecticut, and competed in the 500 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and the 100 freestyle at this year's conference meet. Arrandale is described by her coaches as resilient, as she dealt with an injury that limited her throughout her entire college career. She continued to stay motivated throughout the year and showed up daily, ready to work hard to get better.
Murphy was a senior leader and captain for the men's basketball team this season. He is a mechanical engineering major from Westport, Connecticut, and appeared in 21 games with four starts for the Fightin' Engineers. He was a key piece of the men's basketball team and provided depth at the forward position. He is described by his coaches as the ultimate team player, putting in extra time to get better and help build up his teammates around him.
The HCAC All-Sportsmanship Award is named in honor of former HCAC Commissioner Christopher M. Ragsdale, who served as the Commissioner from 2009 to 2018. Members of the All-HCAC Sportsmanship Team for each championship season include two athletes from each member institution, each of whom are selected by their schools as individuals who represent values that are associated with positive sportsmanship on and off the field/court.
