Men's Track & Field Wins Early Bird Invite to Open Outdoor Season

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose- Hulman Fightin' Engineers men's track & field team earned a first-place finish at the Early Bird Invitational to open their outdoor season. The team totaled a team score of 212, defeating the second-place finishing DePauw Tigers with a score of 119. 

Rose-Hulman finished the meet with seven event wins and 20 top-three finishes. 

Andrew Shields led the team in the running events with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.19. He also placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.20. 

William Fleck earned an event win in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.71, while Sawyer Richter added another first-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:19.46. 

Antoine Cooper was the standout in the field events. Cooper won the discus with a mark of 47.48 meters. He also placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.63 meters. 

Other field event winners included Joe Jansen in the high jump (1.86 meters), Kolton Nanko in the pole vault (4.90 meters), and Grant Subbert in the hammer throw (49.35 meters).

Rose-Hulman will continue their outdoor season, traveling to the WashU Distance Carnival on Thursday and Friday, March 26 and 27. The team will also look to travel individuals to the North Central First Chance Distance Fling on Friday, March 27.
