Softball Travels to Cincinnati for HCAC Match Up with MSJ

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman softball team will travel to take on the Mount St. Joseph Lions in HCAC action on Saturday, April 4, at 1 PM and 3 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN SOFTBALL NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers enter the weekend with an 8-8 overall record and a 1-1 HCAC record.
* Rose-Hulman comes off a sweep over the Webster Gorloks with scores of 10-2 and 11-0, with both games ending after five innings. 
Kayla Schnippel leads the team at the plate with a .444 batting average, totaling 24 hits, five runs, and 10 RBIs. 
Emily Hodges is another standout hitter, totaling a .345 batting average with 19 hits, 11 runs scored, and 14 RBIs. 
* Jessica Newsom is another productive hitter with a .340 batting average, totaling 16 runs scored, 18 hits, and nine RBIs.
Aubrey Smith leads the team in the pitching circle with a record of 6-3 overall, totaling 48.2 innings pitched with 37 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.88.
* Smith has also been exceptional at the plate with a .356 batting average, totaling 12 runs scored, 16 hits, and 15 RBIs.
* The Rose-Hulman softball team has been selected to finish sixth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 44 points. 
* The team returns First Team All-HCAC honoree Jessica Newsom for her junior season. 
* Rose-Hulman also returns Kayla Schnippel and Aubrey Smith, who earned Second Team All-HCAC last season. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Brian Shearer in his 24th season with the Fightin' Engineers softball program. 
* After facing Mount St. Joseph, Rose-Hulman will travel to take on Earlham on Saturday, April 11, at 1 PM and 3 PM. 

MOUNT ST. JOSEPH SOFTBALL NOTES:
* Mount St. Joseph stands at 13-7 overall and 2-0 in the conference this season. 
* The Lions are on a four-game win streak, most recently sweeping Hanover with scores of 15-3 and 9-1, with both games ending after five innings. 
* The team is led by Schelby Rakosky at the plate, hitting .500 on the season, totaling 35 hits, 25 runs scored, and 27 RBIs. 
* Mackinley Lawson is another productive hitter for MSJ, with a batting average of .429, totaling 27 hits, nine runs scored, and 21 RBIs. 
* Lesleigh Reimers is the top pitcher for the Lions with 34.1 innings pitched, totaling a record of 5-2 in the circle with 16 strikeouts and a 3.26 ERA. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Beth Goderwis in her 25th season with the MSJ Lions.
* After hosting Rose-Hulman, MSJ will host Wilmington on Monday, April 6, at 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM. 

MOUNT ST. JOSEPH SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series against MSJ with a record of 12-25 against the Lions. 
* Rose split their doubleheader last season, winning game one, 2-1, and falling in game two, 2-1. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have an all-time record of 4-12 when traveling to face Mount St. Joseph.
