Softball Hosts Hanover in Final Home Game of the Regular Season

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman softball team will host Hanover in their final home game of the season on Wednesday, April 29, at 5:30 and 7:30 PM.

ROSE-HULMAN SOFTBALL NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers currently ranks eighth in the HCAC standings with a record of 14-20 overall and 4-10 in the conference this season. 
* Rose-Hulman comes off a sweep over Berea last Saturday with final scores of 6-1 and 13-3. 
* The Fightin' Engineers are three games behind the sixth-place team in the conference standings and will have to win out and depend on other teams' results to sneak into the HCAC Tournament. 
Jessica Newsom has been a strong hitter for Rose this season with a .381 batting average, totaling 43 hits, 34 runs scored, nine doubles, 26 RBIs, and a team-high seven home runs.
Aubrey Smith is another standout with a .367 batting average, totaling 36 hits, 24 runs, seven doubles, one triple, four home runs, and 25 RBIs.
* Smith is also the star pitcher for the Fightin' Engineers with 97.1 innings pitched, totaling 62 strikeouts and a 4.46 ERA.
* The Rose-Hulman softball team has been selected to finish sixth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 44 points. 
* The team returns First Team All-HCAC honoree Jessica Newsom for her junior season. 
* Rose-Hulman also returns Kayla Schnippel and Aubrey Smith, who earned Second Team All-HCAC last season. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Brian Shearer in his 24th season with the Fightin' Engineers softball program. 
* After hosting Hanover, Rose-Hulman will travel to face Bluffton in a doubleheader to wrap up the regular season on Saturday, May 2, at 3 PM and 5 PM. 

HANOVER SOFTBALL NOTES:
* Hanover ranks ninth in the HCAC rankings with an overall record of 11-23 and a conference mark of 3-11. 
* The Panthers split their doubleheader against Earlham last Saturday, falling in game one 6-4 and defeating the Quakers in game two 4-3.
* Morgan Bailey leads the team at the plate with a .374 batting average, totaling 37 hits, 22 runs scored, seven doubles, four triples, three homers, and 34 RBIs.
* Claire King is another standout hitter for the squad with a .340 batting average, totaling 33 hits, 17 runs scored, two doubles, and 15 RBIs. 
* Lulu Van Beek is the team's top pitcher with 109.2 innings pitched, totaling 80 strikeouts and a 5.81 ERA.
* Hanover was selected to finish seventh in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 31 points. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Cori Colinsworth in her ninth season with the Panthers.
* After facing Rose-Hulman, Hanover will return home to wrap up the regular season on Saturday, May 2, at 1 PM and 3:30 PM.

HANOVER SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series against Hanover with a record of 22-21. 
* The team won both games of their doubleheader last season with final scores of 8-4 and 12-6. 
* The team has an all-time home record of 10-10 when hosting the Panthers.
