RHIT Softball Faces Earlham in HCAC Doubleheader Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman softball team will travel to take on the Earlham Quakers in HCAC action on Saturday, April 11, at 1 PM and 3 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN SOFTBALL NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers enter the weekend with an 8-10 overall record and a 1-3 HCAC record.
* Rose-Hulman comes off two conference losses to MSJ with scores of 6-5 and 4-1. 
Kayla Schnippel leads the team at the plate with a .426 batting average, totaling 26 hits, three doubles, five runs, and 12 RBIs. 
Emily Hodges is another standout hitter, totaling a .349 batting average with 22 hits, 12 runs scored, three doubles, and 14 RBIs. 
Jessica Newsom is another productive hitter with a .317 batting average, totaling 17 runs scored, 19 hits, four doubles, three home runs, and 11 RBIs.
Aubrey Smith leads the team in the pitching circle with a record of 6-4 overall, totaling 54.2 innings pitched with 39 strikeouts and an ERA of 4.23.
* Smith has also been exceptional at the plate with a .360 batting average, totaling 13 runs scored, 18 hits, two doubles, one triple, and three home runs, with a team-high 15 RBIs.
* The Rose-Hulman softball team has been selected to finish sixth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 44 points. 
* The team returns First Team All-HCAC honoree Jessica Newsom for her junior season. 
* Rose-Hulman also returns Kayla Schnippel and Aubrey Smith, who earned Second Team All-HCAC last season. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Brian Shearer in his 24th season with the Fightin' Engineers softball program. 
* After facing Earlham, Rose-Hulman will travel to take on Principia on Monday, April 13, at 3 PM and 5 PM. 

EARLHAM SOFTBALL NOTES:
* Earlham stands at 11-11 overall and 2-0 in the HCAC this season. 
* The Quakers will face Transylvania on Wednesday, April 8, at 3 PM and 5 PM before hosting Rose-Hulman.
* Earlham comes off a doubleheader split against Wittenberg, falling in game one, 5-2, and winning game two, 6-3.
* Bo Shelton leads the team at the plate with a .476 batting average, totaling 30 hits, 11 doubles, five home runs, and 28 RBIs.
* Emmerie Stump is another productive hitter with a .467 batting average, totaling 28 hits, six doubles, three home runs, and 20 RBIs.
* Shelby Messer leads the team in the pitching circle with a record of 5-3, totaling 46.2 innings pitched with 38 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.15.
* The team has been selected to finish fourth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 60 points. 
* The Quakers are led by Head Coach Stacey Goyette in her third season with the team.
* After hosting Rose-Hulman, Earlham will travel to take on Berea in HCAC action on Wednesday, April 15, at 4 PM and 6 PM. 

EARLHAM SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series against Earlham with a record of 3-2.
* The Fightin' Engineers have won their last two games against Earlham with scores of 4-0 and 6-2. 
* The last time Earlham beat Rose was during the regular season last year, with a final score of 2-1.
* Rose-Hulman has an all-time road record of 1-1 when traveling to face Earlham.
