TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its weekly award winners for the sport of women's track & field. The Fightin' Engineers had three award winners, including
Jocelyn Onstot earning HCAC Distance Athlete of the Week,
Audrey Edwards claiming HCAC Jumps Athlete of the Week, and
Megan Korte being named HCAC Throws Athlete of the Week.
Onstot was the top distance performer for the Fightin' Engineers at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite. The electrical engineering and mechanical engineering major from Cary, Illinois, earned an event win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:40.39 to break her own school record in the event. Her time leads the conference this season and ranks 13th in the nation across all of NCAA Division III.
Edwards was the top jumper for the Fightin' Engineers at the Sycamore Open this weekend. The mechanical engineering major from Tucson, Arizona, placed sixth in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.55 meters (5' 1").
Korte was the standout on the throws squad at the Sycamore Open hosted by Indiana State. The chemical engineering major from St. Louis, Missouri, finished sixth in the javelin with a distance of 37.64 meters (123' 6"). Her mark leads the conference this season and ranks third in the Rose-Hulman school record books.
This is the ninth HCAC Athlete of the Week Award for Onstot, the third for Edwards, and the first for Korte in their college careers with the Fightin' Engineers.
Rose-Hulman women's track & field will return to action on the road in the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier on Wednesday, May 13, and Thursday, May 14.
