Fightin' Engineers to Watch: Trevor Wiley

7/2/2026 10:45:00 AM

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman athletic department will be featuring multiple student-athletes across all of their varsity sports teams this summer in the Fightin' Engineers to Watch media campaign.

Men's swimming and diving's Fightin' Engineer to Watch is Trevor Wiley as he enters his junior season.

Wiley is coming off an incredibly successful sophomore year, where he helped lead Rose-Hulman to their sixth consecutive HCAC Championship title. At the 2025-26 HCAC Championships, Wiley recorded four first-place finishes in the 200 individual medley, 400 individual medley, 200 butterfly, and the 400 medley relay. "My goals for next season are to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the 400 IM, 200 IM, or 200 Fly," said Wiley. "Breaking any of the school records in these events would also be nice."

The Indianapolis, Indiana native currently holds two school records, which he set in the 400 individual medley with a time of 3:58.44 and the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:45.24.

Wiley is pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering, and he has been taking online classes through Ivy Tech this summer to cover some of his HSSAs. Wiley has also been training with his local swimming club in Indianapolis to prepare for the upcoming season.

Alongside his two HCAC Team Championships, Wiley has been named the 2025-26 HCAC Co-Swimmer of the Meet and the 2024-25 HCAC Newcomer of the Year.

Wiley's favorite part about being a student-athlete at Rose-Hulman is being around people who enjoy swimming and being able to compete as a swimmer at the collegiate level. "For me and many others, swimming is something you can do that makes you feel productive, and it is also a great distraction from simply being on your phone," said Wiley. "It helps keep your mind away from school for a while, which is something that is definitely needed from time to time."

Rose-Hulman will open the 2026-27 season at the Vigo County Aquatic Center for the Indiana DIII Championships. The meet will be held on Saturday, October 17 at 1 PM.
