TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology returns home for the annual Hall of Fame Game on Saturday, when the football team renews an in-state rivalry with Manchester University at 2 p.m.
The Fightin' Engineers stand 5-2 overall and 3-2 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Manchester has a 3-4 mark and is 2-3 in league play.
The matchup also features the introduction of the Rose-Hulman Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Class at halftime. This year's class includes David Breiding (2004), Jessica (Farmer) Albert (2004), Logan Gillett (1933), Lynsey Hart (2004), Jason LaBella (2004), Matt Moore (2004) and Dylan Tarr (2004).
Rose-Hulman looks to secure its second consecutive winning season and has already established a school record with its 10th straight year at .500 or above this fall. The Fightin' Engineers continue to rank No. 2 nationally in passing offense (370.1 ypg) and No. 14 in total offense (506.3 ypg).
Sophomore Austin Swenson ranks No. 2 nationally in passing yards (2,566), No. 3 in passing yards per game (366.6 ypg) and No. 3 in completions per game (31.7). Sophomore Alec Fisher also stands No. 3 nationally with a school record 12 touchdown receptions so far this season.
Defensively, sophomore Kevin Nowak continues to rank No. 11 nationally in passes defensed (1.7/game). The Fightin' Engineers also lead the HCAC with 24 sacks.
Manchester has earned conference wins over Earlham and Defiance, and has a narrow 29-28 conference loss to league leader Franklin so far this season. Dakota Nelson leads the HCAC in receiving yards per game (105.0) and all-purpose yards (190.1), while junior Logan Haston is the conference's third-ranked passer at 258.6 yards per game.
After Saturday's game, Rose-Hulman travels to Mount St. Joseph for the final road game of the 2014 season. The home finale is the Battle of the Borders Broadsword game against Earlham College on Nov. 15.
