TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team welcomes North Park University to campus for a game with national and regional implications Saturday, Sept. 27. The game is slated to begin at 5 p.m. on the Fightin' Engineer Intramural Field.
Both teams are ranked among the nation's top 25 teams as North Park sits at No. 20 and Rose-Hulman at No. 23. Additionally, both teams are ranking in their respective regions with Rose-Hulman sitting third in the Great Lakes Region while North Park also sits third in the Central Region.
The Fightin' Engineers come into their final non-conference game with a 5-2-2 record. Rose-Hulman began the season 5-0-2, but has lost its last two games (2-0 at Centre and 1-0 vs. Wabash). Senior goalkeeper Drew Miller continues to anchor the Engineer defense and has recorded five shutouts through nine games this season. Sophomore Ben Lyon has scored five of Rose-Hulman's nine team goals.
North Park, which currently sits 6-1, recorded its only loss of the 2014 season on Sept. 20, a 1-0 loss at UC-Santa Cruz. The Vikings responded with a come from behind, 3-2 overtime victory over UW-Oshkosh.
The two teams have one met once previously, in 2013. North Park edged Rose-Hulman 1-0 with a goal in the 32nd minute.
After the game with North Park, Rose-Hulman opens Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play. The Engineer s will be on the road for their first two conference games, at Defiance on Oct. 4, and at Mount St. Joseph on Oct. 8.
