TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis match with Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) foe Transylvania has been moved indoors to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday due to inclement weather. The match was originally scheduled for noon on Saturday.
Rose-Hulman (10-5, 7-0 HCAC) clinched a share of the HCAC regular season championship last Saturday with a 7-2 victory over Earlham. With a victory over Transylvania, the Fightin' Engineers would hoist the HCAC regular season trophy outright for the first time in program history.
Sophomores Brandon Benedict and Georges Adam enter the dual match with 8-5 and 8-4 records at first and second singles respectively. The two also team up to represent Rose-Hulman's first doubles team and carry an 8-5 record including an 8-4 victory over regionally-ranked DePauw. Freshman Cam Metzger carries a 6-2 singles record playing primarily third singles into the match with Transylvania.
As a team in dual matches, Rose-Hulman is 59-31 in singles and 31-14 in doubles matches. In conference play, the Engineers are an astounding 40-2 in singles and 20-1 in doubles.
Transylvania comes into the contest with a 3-6 record and a 3-3 mark in HCAC play. The Pioneers are on a two-game winning streak, however, having defeated Manchester 6-3 and Mount St. Joseph 8-1 on Wednesday.
After the match with Transylvania, the Engineers play their final regular season contest at Vincennes on Wednesday, April 29.
