TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology hits the road for four matches in three days as part of Spring Break 2015, starting on Friday.
Rose-Hulman opens the weekend stretch with a match against Indiana Tech at Swinney Park in Fort Wayne on Friday at 4 p.m. Saturday features conference action at Defiance (10 a.m.) and a matchup with NCAA Division I IPFW (5 p.m.). On Sunday, the Fightin' Engineers close a busy weekend with a trip to Manchester University at 1 p.m.
The Fightin' Engineers improved to 6-3 on the season and 4-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 9-0 win over Anderson University on Wednesday night. Rose-Hulman has two HCAC matches among the four scheduled for this weekend.
Sophomores Brandon Benedict and Georges Adam have enjoyed success at the No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles spots and have teamed up at No. 1 doubles. Benedict is 7-5 this season, Adam is 8-3, and the two are 5-4 as a doubles tandem.
Freshman Cam Metger (6-2) and junior Matt Conrad (5-3) have held down the No. 3 and No. 4 singles spots for most of the season. Freshman Derek Benedict (6-3) and freshman Tyler Haas (5-4) have rounded out the singles rotation. The Fightin' Engineers have an overall singles record of 42-24 and the doubles teams have combined for a 22-10 record.
Indiana Tech enters Friday's matchup with a 6-2 record. Defiance stands 8-4 overall and is a perfect 3-0 in conference matches. IPFW has a 10-10 overall record, while Manchester stands 0-6 overall and 0-2 in league play.
After this weekend's action, Rose-Hulman returns home to face Oakland City University on Monday at 6 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.
