TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Saturday October 22 will serve as Senior Day for the Rose-Hulman men's soccer team. The Fightin' Engineers will play host to the visiting Bluffton Beavers at 3:30 p.m. at the Engineer Intramural Field.
The team will honor five seniors prior to the start of Saturday's game: Nick Kowalkowski, Brad Rostron, Ben Lyon, Alex Jansen, and Chris Kibler. The group of seniors have earned three consecutive trips to the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament. They have clinched three consecutive HCAC Tournament Championships and have won the HCAC regular season crown two of the last three years.
Kowalkowski, a civil engineering major, has been an integral part of the Rose-Hulman defense the past four seasons. He has started in all 78 games that he has appeared in. Nick has scored five goals in his career and has recorded three assists. In 2015 he was named HCAC Defensive Player of the Year, was a first-team all-HCAC selection and was a second-team NCSAA all-region selection.
Brad Rostron has started 65 of the 68 games that he has appeared in over his career. The civil engineering major has helped anchor a stout Rose-Hulman defense. Brad has scored one goal and has collected five assists over the course of his Rose-Hulman career. He is a member of the Triangle fraternity and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Lyon, a mechanical engineering major, has appeared in 79 games over the course of his career. He has been a consistent starter since his sophomore season and has registered 57 starts in his time at Rose-Hulman. Lyon has been one of the main cogs in the RHIT offense. He has scored 23 goals, picked up seven assists and netted 10 game-winners. Ben was a first-team all-HCAC selection in both 2014 and 2015 and was a two-time NSCAA all-region honoree.
Alex Jansen, who is majoring in chemical engineering, has started 56 games and has appearred in 78 contests over the course of his Rose-Hulman career. He has been a large part of the RHIT offense over the last two seasons. Jansen has scored 11 career goals and has chipped in seven assists. In 2015 has was a second-team all-HCAC selection.
Chris Kibler, a biomedical engineering major from Bartlett, Ill., has provided depth as a reserve goalkeeper in 2015 and made three varsity in 2013 as a freshman. Chris is Head of Professional Relations for the Biomedical Engineering Society here on campus.
The Fightin' Engineers are currently 10-5 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the HCAC. Bluffton comes into Saturday's game with a record of 3-12 and 0-6 in HCAC play.
