TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology returns to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference softball action with a doubleheader against Hanover College on Saturday slated for 1 p.m. This matchup is also Senior Day for the Fightin' Engineers softball team.
Rose-Hulman stands 11-13 overall and 2-6 in league play after falling to Transylvania and Bluffton last weekend. They most recently split a twinbill with Franklin College on Tuesday evening.
Rose-Hulman features an offense that includes three starters hitting over the .300 mark. Jenny Miller has a .354 average and leads the team in home runs (5) and slugging (.662). Jessica Will has a batting average of .341 with six doubles and two home runs. Gabbi Markison stands at .301 with five doubles, and Marissa Stout leads the team with 19 RBIs and has nine extra-base hits.
In the pitching circle, senior Taylor Lockhart leads the staff with a 7-5 record and a 1.84 earned run average. Jenny Miller is 3-2 with a 2.70 ERA, while Michelle Korf has contributed a 3.98 earned run average in 31.2 innings.
Hanover recently lost two games against Anderson and is 11-14 (3-5 HCAC) on the season. The Panthers are batting .309 as a team, led by Dabney Skutt at .391 and McKenzie Writt with a .363 average. The pitching staff has a 3.99 earned run average, led by sydney Griffin at 7-4 with a 2.98 ERA.
After Saturday's matchup, Rose-Hulman travels to Defiance College in another conference doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m.
