TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opens its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule with a home doubleheader against Manchester University on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Engineer Softball Field.
The Fightin' Engineers are 9-7 overall entering HCAC play, while Manchester is 12-6 overall and 1-1 in league games.
Rose-Hulman enters league play with the top rated pitching performance in the league so far this spring. The team has a 2.10 earned run average, led by Taylor Lockhart (5-2, 1.29) and Jenny Miller (3-0, 0.67).
Rose-Hulman also set a school record with five home runs in a game at Millikin earlier this week. Miller leads the offense at .395 with four home runs. Jessica Will stands at .357 with four doubles and two home runs, with Gabbi Markison also over the .300 mark at .306. Marissa Stout (.267, 2 HR) and Maddie Struble (.268, 2 HR) also have multiple home runs so far this season.
Manchester features an offense batting .305 with six home runs, led by Lauren Ladwig with four round trippers and a .351 batting average. Emilee Liston leads the team at .455, with Kate Skeens hitting .373. Three pitchers have combined for a 3.12 earned run average, led by MacKenzie Wiliams (6-2, 2.96) and Anna Schillinger (5-2, 3.23).
Live in-game stats and live in-game video, with multiple camera angles through the work of Wabash Valley Sports, will be available for Thursday's doubleheader.
After Thursday's games, Rose-Hulman returns to action at Defiance College in a road doubleheader this Sunday at 1 p.m. The originally scheduled Saturday twinbill at Bluffton has now been rescheduled for Sunday April 17.
