Go4theGoal Softball Game Slated for Thursday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Thursday night will be a special night at the Rose-Hulman Softball Field.

First, RHIT student-athletes who are members of the Chi Alpha Sigma Athletic Honor Fraternity will be introduced and honored on field in between the doubleheader between Rose-Hulman and Webster for their outstanding achievements on the field and in the classroom.

Second, and more importantly, the doubleheader between Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Webster University will serve a much higher purpose.  Thursday night's games will serve as Go4theGoal games.  This special initiative helps bring awareness to pediatric cancer.  Go4theGoal's unwavering mission "is to improve the lives of children battling cancer by providing the necessary resources to them, their families, and the hospitals and staff that care for them."

Lace up 4 Pediatric Cancer started in 2011 and since then professional, college, and youth teams have participated in raising funds and awareness for kids battling cancer in their communities.  Go4theGoal is a partner of the Association of Pediatric Oncology Social Workers (APOSW) and the foundation works directly with patient social workers to provide immediate support that best assists individual families, whether that is assistance with bills, travel expenses, special gifts or experiences to lift the patient's spirits.

The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers will golden shoelaces during the doubleheader.  Any fan in attendance Thursday is welcome to donate to the Lace Up 4 Cancer Initiative.

Webster University comes into Thursday's games with an overall record of 25-12.  The Gorloks, members of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) have posted a conference mark of 13-5.  Rose-Hulman enters the Go4theGoal game with a record of 10-22.
