CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team opens the 2018 season with a Monday morning doubleheader in Florida.
The Fightin' Engineers will face St. Mary's (Minn) at 8:30 a.m., and square off with Cabrini at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
Rose-Hulman returns the bulk of its squad from a season ago and will be led by its four seniors. Senior Jenny Miller hit .368 last season and finished with three home runs and 15 stolen bases. Shortstop Jessica Will led RHIT with 41 hits a season ago. Will batted .342, hit nine doubles, and drove in 18 RBI. Gabbi Markison had a solid junior campaign, hitting .283, with three doubles, a triple, and two homeruns. Senior Michelle Korf will also look to have a strong final season in a Rose-Hulman uniform. Korf drove in a 20 RBI last year and pitched 105.2 innings.
The team features the return of more than 10 players from last year's squad which finished with 11 victories.
