TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior javelin thrower Nathan Schrader will represent the Fightin' Engineers at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on Thursday in Geneva, Ohio.
Schrader has qualified 15th in the javelin throw with a mark of 196' 1" at DePauw University last month. The career-best throw also ranks No. 3 in Rose-Hulman school history.
Schrader is part of a Rose-Hulman men's track and field team that has won 21 consecutive HCAC Track and Field Team championships, with 12 straight titles outdoors and nine consecutive championships indoors.
He has recorded 12 point-scoring performances in HCAC championship events, including four second-place finishes. His HCAC runner-up efforts have come in the javelin (2018 and 2019) and shot put (indoors and outdoors in 2019).
Schrader will compete on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. He will hope to add to a Rose-Hulman track and field tradition that includes 55 All-American awards, 10 NCAA Division III national championship performances and eight NCAA Division III runner-up finishes.
Rose-Hulman has also enjoyed recent success at the NCAA Division III National Championships, after Eric Fiacable (men's hammer), Jaclyn Setina (women's high jump) and Trey Sykes (men's triple jump) were top-five finishers in the 2018 NCAA Division III track and field season. Pole vaulter Nick Palmer also qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships in 2019.
