TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's track and field team relied on 11 top-two finishes to place second at the Outdoor Early Bird Invitational on Saturday at Cook Stadium.
Nosa Igiehon led the performance with three event victories. Igiehon won the 100-meter hurdles (15.93 seconds), the high jump (5' 2 1/4") and the triple jump (35' 10 3/4").
Other event winners for Rose-Hulman included
Madison Lindfelt in the 3,000-steeplechase (13:01.69);
Claire Perkins in the pole vault (9' 9"); and
Cassie Utley in the javelin (112' 4").
Rose-Hulman also had five runner-up performances on the afternoon. Â
Lois Cheatham had the team's running event second-place finish with a time of 1:03.02. The 4-x-400 meter relay team of
Emily Peterson,
Dara Smith, Lindfelt and Cheatham also came home second in 4:25.26.
Field event runner-ups included
Rofiat Adeyemi in the triple jump (34' 6 1/4");
Adekite Oladipupo in the long jump (16' 0 1/4"); and Utley in the discus (113' 6").
DePauw won the meet with 171 points to narrowly top Rose-Hulman's 163 points. Greenville, St. Mary-of-the-Woods and Franklin rounded out the finishing order.
Rose-Hulman will compete in the DePauw Quad next weekend.
