TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its weekly awards for the sport of women's track & field.
Jocelyn Onstot has been named the HCAC Distance Athlete of the Week for her performance in the WashU Distance Carnival and the Fightin' Engineers Spring Classic.
Onstot led the distance team this week for the Fightin' Engineers. The junior electrical and mechanical engineering major started her week with a 13th-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the WashU Distance Carnival with a time of 11:05.58. This time breaks the Rose-Hulman school record in the event and currently leads the HCAC. Her time in the steeplechase also ranks sixth in the nation across all NCAA DIII competitors.
The Cary, Illinois native then competed in the Fightin' Engineers Classic, earning an event win in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.76. Her time is the top time in the conference in the event and ranks third in the Rose-Hulman record book.
This is the seventh career HCAC Athlete of the Week award for Onstot in her college career with the Fightin' Engineers.
The women's track & field team will return to action in the Pacesetter Invitational hosted by Indiana State on Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4.
