Women's Track & Field Places 2nd at RHIT Twilight Meet

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology came home second in the Fightin' Engineer Women's Track and Field Twilight Meet on Friday at Cook Stadium.

National power Washington University in St. Louis took home first-place honors, followed by Rose-Hulman and DePauw.

The Fightin' Engineers won two events on Friday night to lead 10 top-three finishes.

Cassie Utley had the top point performance for Rose-Hulman with finishes of first, second and third place in field events.  Utley won the discus (118' 3"); placed second in the javelin (107' 4"); and came home third in the shot put (33' 8 3/4").

Nosa Igiehon added a trio of top-three performances.  Igiehon won the high jump (5' 2 1/4") and placed third in both the triple jump (34' 5 1/2") and 100-meter hurdles (15.69 seconds).

In addition to Utley, second-place finishers included Rofiat Adeyemi in the long jump (16' 7"); Aaliyah Briggs in the shot put (34' 2 1/4"); and Maggie Sheerin in the 3000-steeplechase (12:38.41).

Lois Cheatham added a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:01.85) to bolster the team score.  Claire Perkins also tied the second best mark in school history in the pole vault with a mark of 10' 4" to boost the Engineer effort.

Rose-Hulman will host the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday, April 30-May 1, at Cook Stadium.
