6 Wins Lead Women's Track & Field to 2nd Place on Friday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's indoor track and field team placed second on Friday night in the Friday Night Spikes Series.  The team secured 6 total victories in the effort against DePauw University (first place), Brescia University (third place), Washington University in St. Louis (fourth place), and Webster University (fifth place).

Evelyn Utley broke the Rose-Hulman school record in shot put en route to her victory.  Her distance of 39' 6.5" broke the record which stood since 2007 (38' 11.5").

The 4-x-200 meter and the 4-x-400 meter relay teams both captured wins for Rose-Hulman.  The 4-x-200 meter team won with a time of 1:57.68, with team members including Emily Peterson, Katrina Agustin, Elle Vuotto and Christina Rogers.  The 4-x-400 meter team consisted of Peterson, Madison Lindfelt, Liv Aspholm, and Rogers.  They won with a time of 4:29.20.

Other event winners of the night came from the field events. Claire Perkins won the pole vault at a height of 9' 8". Cameron Weber tossed a distance of 42' 11.5" to win the weight throw.  Rofiat Adeyemi leaped a distance of 36' 2.25" to win the triple jump.

The team returns to the SRC Fieldhouse for the final indoor home meet of the season next Friday, January 28.
