TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed a strong second behind only national power Washington University in St. Louis at Friday Night Spikes Meet #3 at the Sports and Recreation Center.
Rofiat Adeyemi and
Elsa King provided event victories to lead the Fightin' Engineer performance. Adeyemi won the long jump with a mark of 17' 9", and King took home first-place honors in the 3000-meter run (11:21.94).
Evelyn Utley led the runner-up finishers with a shot put school record for the third consecutive week. Utley set a new Rose-Hulman standard with a mark of 42' 4".
Second-place finishers included Adeyemi in the triple jump;
Abigail Kurfman in the 5000;
Emily Peterson in the 400; and Utley in the shot put.
Rose-Hulman recorded nine overall top-three finishes in the meet. The Fightin' Engineers host Friday Night Spikes Meet #4 next weekend.
