Women's Track & Field Captures 2023 HCAC Indoor Championship

RESULTS

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology took home the 5th Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's indoor track and field championship in school history with a dominant performance at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.
 
Rose-Hulman won six events, set three school records and tallied 195.5 points to win the league championship.  Hanover placed second with 127.5 points, and Manchester came home third with 89 points.
 
Rofiat Adeyemi led the Fightin' Engineers with two wins, one HCAC record and one school record.  Adeyemi set both the HCAC and Rose-Hulman school records in the triple jump with a mark of 38' 2 1/4".  The second first-place award came in long jump, where Adeyemi recorded a mark of 17' 6 3/4".
 
Other individual conference champions included Madison Lindfelt in the mile (5:27.63); and Narindwa Semakula in the 60 hurdles (9.12 seconds).
 
Rose-Hulman also swept the 4-x-200 and 4-x-400 relay events to cap team title honors under the direction of head coach Larry Cole.  The 4-x-200 team included Jenae Mona, Katrina Agustin, Alex Adams and Jada Hunter-Hays in 1:49.86.  The 4-x-400 team included Emily Peterson, Hunter-Hays, Lindfelt and Sarah Shoemaker in a time of 4:13.25.

Other school records set by Rose-Hulman included Agustin in the 60-meter dash (7.90) and Evelyn Utley in the shot put (42' 11 3/4").
 
Cole was named HCAC Men's and Women's Coach of the Year to increase his career total for conference Coach of the Year honors to 31.  The coaching staff includes Derick Lawrence, Emily Lawrence, Liz Evans and Christy Sherman.

Adeyemi captured HCAC Jumps Athlete of the Year honors, and Semakula was named HCAC Newcomer of the Year after a strong performance in the meet.
