Baseball Travels to Franklin; Top Spot in HCAC on the Line

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team travels to Franklin College for a three-game series with the first-place Franklin Grizzlies. The Fightin' Engineers will play a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 PM and 4 PM (revised start times) and a single game on Sunday at 12 PM.

ROSE-HULMAN GAME NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers come in to this weekend with a 16-12 record and at 8-3 in the HCAC. 
* Rose-Hulman comes into this week with their first HCAC series loss after dropping two of three to Transylvania.
* The Fightin' Engineers have sweeps over Defiance and Mount St. Joseph as well as a series win over Hanover in HCAC play this season.
* The Fightin' Engineers currently sit in a three-way tie for 2nd in the HCAC, just two games back of Franklin.
* After playing Franklin, the Fightin' Engineers will return to Art Nehf Field for a Wednesday game with DePauw.

FRANKLIN NOTES:
* Franklin comes into the mid-week game at 21-7 and 10-1 in the HCAC.
* The Grizzlies come in with wins in 12 of their last 13 and 15 of their last 17.
* After losing their HCAC opener to Transylvania, the Grizzlies won two against the Pioneers and swept Anderson, Hanover, and Mount St. Joseph.
* Franklin has been an offensive juggernaut this year with a slash line of .300 / .435 / .499.
* The Grizzlies are averaging 9.6 runs per game this season.
* Franklin has four players with an OPS over 1.000 including Noah Wood (1.065), Jonathan LaGuire (1.037), AJ Sanders (1.021), and Tysen Lipscomb (1.017).
* Those four players have over 50 extra base hits between them on the season.
* LaGuire is the defending HCAC Player of the Week thanks to five home runs last week including three in one game against DePauw.
* On the mound, Franklin's top two pitchers have been very good. Matthew Johnson is 4-1 with a 3.00 ERA and Jackson Young is 5-0 with a 3.78 ERA. However, the rest of their pitching staff has struggled.
